Do you need to have a fun day with your students that still involves learning? I have a new Pirate Packet that is filled with so many fun ideas - your students will go home loving school and talking their parent's ears off about the best day ever! My students write about this day at the end of the year in their memory books. This is also a great alternative to Halloween if you are not allowed to celebrate it in your school. Have Fun!!!
To start with, we dress like pirates for the day! When the students enter and leave the classroom they are required to walk the plank!
Yes, it's just a left over piece of wood from my shed ... but we have quite the imagination! I hang pirate flags and have collected things over the years to add to my day like a treasure chest, parrot pen, skull and crossbones stamp - that all papers get stamped with on that day.
I use pirate phrases all day with them. The pirate phrases, note home to parents about the special day, and all activities are in my packet on TpT. There is a little bit of everything in it.

I love hanging the writing in the hall. I use a large pirate to brainstorm adjectives with the students. They can then use the smaller adjective page in their packet to write their favorite adjectives to use in their writing.
The first activity is a treasure hunt for "ar" words. There are 12 word cards included in the packet as well as the students' recording sheets. I draw up a map that takes them all around the outside of the building and ends up with a treasure chest under our principal's desk. I put gold wrapped chocolate in the chest but you could put skeleton rings, and plastic gold pirate coins, etc.
Ahoy, Me Hearties!
