Spring Fun!

I have a new April Freebie posted in my TpT store!

It's a fun writing and craft activity that I use when discussing oviparous animals in the spring... butterflies, chicks, etc.  I have the students pretend that they find an egg.  They decide on a setting for their story to explain where they found the egg and then I let them use their imagination for what hatches and what happens as a result of this animal hatching out.  Some of the situations turn out pretty funny.  The student can leave their eggs white or color them.

A fun writing project to use in the spring!
I love to use this writing activity after I have read:

Chickens Aren’t the Only Ones
Or
Just Plain Fancy

Have students cut out the egg and along the crack.

Have them decide what is going to hatch out of their egg.  It could be a dinosaur, snake, alien, rainbow colored bunny… whatever gets their writing juices flowing!

They will have to create their animal from construction paper and glue it behind the bottom part of the egg so that their animal looks like it’s popping out of the egg.  Have them glue the top of the egg in an open position.

Attach their writing to the bottom portion of a large piece of construction paper.  Glue the egg on the top part of the paper.
Two choices of writing papers.

Check out my other spring writing activity while you're on my TpT page.

I use this writing activity to go along with Little Bunny/Rabbit Foo Foo.  I have the students write the bunny a letter with suggestions to make amends with all the forest animals he bops on the head!  Another writing activity the students love ... when children enjoy the subject matter they are writing about you will be AMAZED at what they produce!

I hope you are getting lots of beautiful spring weather... summer is almost here!
