Reindeer Games! Learning with a twist of reindeer!

Everything you need to have a Reindeer Day in your class!  Your students are so excited for the holidays and it's kind of hard keeping their attention on school work.  So... let's throw in a little reindeer fun that will have your students learning with a smile! To tell you the truth, as a teacher, I look forward to these special days in December.  I celebrate Grinch Day (I blogged about my Grinch Day last year), Polar Express Day, and Reindeer Day!  It will make teaching a lot of fun too - why should  our students have all the fun?!  ;)  Your students will be working with cause and effect, verbs and nouns, alphabetizing, adjectives, doubles, word problems with equations, creative writing, and crafts.

Some great reindeer books you can borrow from your library:

Olive, the Other Reindeer - Vivian Walsh
Who Will Guide My Sleigh Tonight? - Jerry Pollatta
The Wild Christmas Reindeer - Jan Brett
Rudolph - Robert L. May

Math Fast Finisher!

Your parents and principal will love that you have a plan for your students who always finish ahead of their peers!  This is an easy way to differentiate your instruction. When parents ask how you are going to challenge their child – this is the answer.  This packet will challenge first graders and is a great review and practice packet for second graders.

The students keep their packets in a folder and complete a page a day.  When they complete a page, they bring the packet up to the answer key book and self correct their work – this is so easy on the teacher!  No extra work for you!

I place the answer key pages back to back in plastic sleeves and place them in a notebook.
The packets can be copied off and stapled right on your copy machine.

This is the first volume with pages 1-20 plus the answer key.  I will be continuing to produce 9 more packets this year. Please check my store and follow me for these products.

I hope you enjoy this product as much as I do – it is such a great sponge activity for my students.

If you enjoyed this product, I also have  Writing Fast Finishers!

Brag cards and Bracelets

Are you enjoying your summer?  My family and I just got back from Italy!  The history was incredible and the FOOD ... the food was AMAZING.  It was hard to switch from "vacation brain" back to "teacher brain".

I always try to get organized and think of ways to make my life easier as a teacher - never enough time to accomplish everything on my list.  Each year I tell myself that I want to have more positive communication between my parents and myself.   I want my students to love being at school as well as have them striving to be their best -  whether it's with their academics or behavior.

Brag cards and brag bracelets!  You can choose to use the cards or the bracelets. Copy them off, cut them out, and have them ready to deliver!  I keep mine in a basket up near my kiva.  My goal is to award one or two a day.  I keep a clipboard with a class roster next to the cards (for my own knowledge), so that I can mark off the students when they receive a brag card.  I want to  make sure I'm catching all my students doing something good.

This is such an easy way to keep your students and your parents happy.   Happy parents.  Happy students.  Happy teacher.  Happy principal.  (We hope!)

Did I mention this is a FREEBIE!?  Follow my blog and my TpT store for new products and more freebies.   Have an INCREDIBLE start to your school year.

End of the Year Splash Gift Labels

End of the Year Gift Tags!

I wanted to do something new and different this year, so….

Splash balls!

Seriously, I was walking around Dollar Tree looking for something fun and this is what I came up with for the end of the year gift.  I added some advice for their future, threw in an Italian ice, some candy, and some water balloons. You could change the gift up and add sun glasses, beach ball, kool aid packets, a spray bottle …

I think they will love it!

Fast Finisher Writing Box! volume 1

Are you surviving May?  We have less than 3 weeks to go!  I'm trying to get motivated and make my life a little easier this August by making copies now.  I'm sharing one of my fast finisher activities I use in my classroom.  One of the choices my students have during center time or when they finish their work early, is to complete some creative writing for me.  They each have their own folder that they store their writing project in when they are not working on it.  The writing folders also have a writer's check sheet in a plastic sleeve that can be reused as well as a sheet that they can jot down frequently misspelled words for a quick reference.  I copy off the stories for the Fast Finisher Writing Box and put 20 copies of each story in each file folder for the students to choose from.   There are 24 different stories with a back page.  I change these out three times a year to give them a variety to choose from.  This is volume 1.  I am planning on making a couple more volumes available to you. I also included some file labels that you can print off on file stickers.   I hope this keeps you organized as a teacher as well as keeping  your students busy in a constructive way!

Whales!

This is the time of the year that I find that I have a little more wiggle room in the afternoons for some fun learning with my students.  Most of the holidays are over and the testing is winding down.  I love to pick a subject that my students are fascinated with (whales) and teach across the curriculum.  We creative write, review math concepts, research, use graphs and Venn diagrams, etc.  all while learning about whales!

There are so many wonderful books available about whales.  Baby Whales Drink Milk and Humpback Goes North to name just a couple.   I measure and cut a piece of string that is 100 feet long and we go out to the playground to stretch it out to see how long a blue whale can grow to be.  The students walk up and down the string and imagine they're swimming with the whale.

I  created this whale unit so that I can share the fun with your classroom!
