Yeah! I finally have put my Polar Express Day into a packet to share with you. I have been doing this special day with my students for quite a few years now.
I send home the Polar Express tickets the night before with a note to the parents. My students are allowed to wear pajamas, bring a stuffed animal, a pillow and a blanket. I greet them at my door (that is decorated like the front of a train engine) and I punch their tickets with a hole punch. The night before, I
put my students chairs 2 by 2 to form a train – they enter my room and they sit on the train and we read the book. We do the various
activities in my packet during the morning and after lunch we watch the movie. I push the tables
and chairs to the sides of the classroom during lunch to make room for the pillows and
blankets. We pause the movie after the Hot Chocolate song and go to our tables
for cookies and hot cocoa (I also buy my cups with lids!). I start the movie once
everyone is served. We also munch on
popcorn while laying on the floor. At the end of the day everyone gets a bell
(Oriental Trading has some awesome big ones with tags that say “Believe” on
them.) I cheat and do the Polar Express Writing train during the first week of
December so that we can enjoy it the whole month long.
Have a fun Day!Here's the link to Polar Express Day! in my Tpt store.
